The Hungarian law banning the promotion of homosexuality to minors has provoked strong criticism across Europe for several days now. Adopted by a majority vote on June 15 by Hungarian lawmakers, this law aims to protect minors from LGBTI content (films, series, advertisements, etc.).

“Pornography and content that depict sexuality or promote deviation of gender identity, sex change, and homosexuality must not be accessible to those under 18 years of age.”

The adoption of this law by the Hungarian government aligns with the vision of the Prime Minister of that country, who is determined to establish a new cultural era aimed at defending Christian and traditional values.

However, shortly after its adoption, this Hungarian law was met with strong condemnation from all sides, and particularly from European leaders.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission:

“This Hungarian bill is a disgrace. It clearly discriminates against people on the basis of their sexual orientation. It goes against all the fundamental values of the European Union.”

Angela Merkel, German Chancellor:

“For me, this law is wrong. […] I do not know whether parliament has already voted on this law or whether it is still under discussion. But in any case, I can only oppose it.”

Reactions of European Leaders Following the Law

Why then did this Hungarian law provoke so many negative reactions within the European Union? Why this generalized onslaught by European leaders against Hungary over such a simple law that was passed? To these questions, the Bible offers to provide us with the answer.

What the Bible Announced in Advance

The Bible announced more than 2,000 years ago that the European Union would be this empire—the final empire—through which the Antichrist will rule over the whole earth (see the teaching on the world government). According to the Scriptures, the reign of this Antichrist will not begin until sin has reached its climax (Daniel 8:23). It is therefore not surprising to see how his accomplices—that is, these current European leaders—are working hard to establish a valueless society, steeped in sin, totally removed from God. It is therefore not surprising to see with what energy this brood of vipers seeks to impose upon humanity a godless world, a world totally subjected to the ideals of the antichrist. Let us therefore realize that the cup of sin is full and that the return of the Lord is truly near.
