For several weeks now, we have been witnessing a resurgence of tensions in the Middle East following the episode of the Twelve-Day War between Iran and Israel.

In recent weeks, we have witnessed a resurgence of tensions in the Middle East following the episode of the Twelve-Day War between Iran and Israel. This sharp rise in tensions suggests that another, more serious military episode could take place—this time with heavier consequences at both the regional and global levels. Indeed, the Middle East has always been a source of concern for world peace. Could we therefore witness a military escalation in this region of the Middle East that could lead to a general conflagration?

Review of the Facts

Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Syria has turned into a veritable powder keg in which primarily two nations are confronting one another: Iran and Israel. Israel has continued to launch extensive bombing campaigns against Iranian positions in Syria. Israel justified these strikes by the massive presence of the Revolutionary Guards’ forces, which threatened its borders and also ensured the logistics of advanced equipment to Hezbollah and Hamas.

The triggering element of the entire spiral that followed was Israel’s bombing of the annex of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus (Syria) on April 1, 2024, killing several officials of the Revolutionary Guards, including General Zahedi. In response to this attack, Iran retaliated with Operation “Honest Promise,” which took the form of the launching of 300 drones against Israel, most of which Israel intercepted with the help of its allies (the United States, France, Jordan, the United Kingdom, etc.).

On October 1, 2024, following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by Israel, Iran fired nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, targeting the headquarters of the Mossad. Twenty-five days later, Israel counterattacked in Iran with 100 fighter jets.

On March 25, 2025, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) reported a historic record of enriched uranium accumulated in Iran.

On June 13, 2025, at 3 a.m., Israel launched Operation “Rising Lion,” a massive attack on Iran. More than 200 fighter jets struck about 100 targets (military, nuclear, etc.). This was the first direct open war between the two countries: the Twelve-Day War. Iran retaliated each day during those twelve days by launching dozens of ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones, causing enormous damage. Even when the United States had to intervene with its B-2 Spirit bombers, Iran reacted symbolically by firing on a U.S. base in the Middle East.

In January 2026, a protest movement broke out in Iran and was violently suppressed; Trump threatened to intervene militarily. Since then, we have been witnessing an unprecedented military escalation in this region of the globe.

A Region Preparing for Something Greater

The United States is massively deploying military equipment to the Middle East, notably carrier strike groups (USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Gerald R. Ford), fighter aircraft (F-22, F-35, F-15, F-16), Patriot/THAAD batteries, KC-135 tankers, and an increased presence at strategic bases (Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia).

Russia, China, and Iran have been strengthening their strategic military partnership in recent weeks, including joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman (February 2026). Russia is deploying advanced air-defense systems (S-400) and Su-35 fighter jets in Iran. China has supplied Iran with two strategic pieces of equipment, namely a surveillance radar and a radar-and-defense battery. In addition, China, with its most sophisticated intelligence-gathering vessel currently deployed in the Middle East, is providing Iran with valuable intelligence on U.S. military activities. By way of example, China provided the exact positions of THAAD and Patriot air-defense batteries.

The Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned on February 1, 2026, that any American aggression would trigger a conflict spreading throughout the entire region, and that Israel would not be spared. More recently still, Iran declared that it would strike American soil in the event of a conflict. Israel, for its part, is putting urgent measures in place in case of war.

Tensions are almost at their peak as we write this article. Are we witnessing an unprecedented tipping point in this region of the Middle East? Is the world preparing to enter a Third World War? What does the Bible say?

What the Bible Says

The Bible long ago prophesied a Third World War, a war that will cause immense devastation on a global scale. The Bible prophesied that it will begin in the Middle East, that it will be nuclear, and that it will kill a third (1/3) of the world’s population—that is, more than 2.2 billion people. The Bible also announced that it is at the end of this war that the antichrist will appear, who will play the role of peacemaker, the man of peace.

We very strongly recommend that you read our biblical teaching on the Third World War.

Are we therefore on the threshold of this great war? Does this Israeli–Iranian conflict constitute the immediate cause of this Third World War? Let us wait to see what follows in the days ahead.

May the Lord bless you!
