Military tensions between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and mainland China (People’s Republic of China) have reached an unprecedented peak in more than forty years.

Throughout this year, the Chinese communist regime, with its head Xi Jinping, has continued to multiply aerial and maritime incursions very close to the island (Taiwan), with the aim of reattaching it to mainland China (the One China principle). According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, more than 800 Chinese warplanes were sent near the island this year compared to 380 last year, and mainland China would have the means necessary to carry out a full invasion of the island.

In the face of such repeated incursions by Beijing (mainland China), the risk of a military confrontation between the two parties is only a matter of time.

In the event of a military conflict, it would not be limited to Taiwan alone; the United States and its allies (NATO) would necessarily take part in the defense of the island. China would also tend to globalize the war. Several weeks ago, U.S. President Joe Biden openly declared that the United States has “a commitment” to intervene militarily in the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan.

It is therefore easy to understand how such a confrontation could easily make this area a front line in the coming Third World War.
